Tiffany Haddish breaks silence on sexual abuse allegations

Tiffany Haddish addressed the sexual abuse allegations made against her and fellow comedian Aries Spears.

In an Instagram post on Monday, the 42-year-old wrote, “I know people have a bunch of questions. I get it. I’m right there with you. Unfortunately, because there is an ongoing legal case, there’s very little that I can say right now.”

“But, clearly, while this sketch was intended to be comedic, it wasn’t funny at all — and I deeply regret having agreed to act in it,” she said of a video formerly published online titled “Through A Pedophile’s Eyes.”

“I really look forward to being able to share a lot more about this situation as soon as I can,” Haddish concluded.

The statement comes after a now-22-year-old woman and her 14-year-old brother filed a lawsuit on Aug. 30 against the jokesters, alleging the pair groomed and sexually abused them during their childhoods.

Spears and Haddish are both accused of intentional infliction of emotional distress, gross negligence, sexual battery, sexual harassment and sexual abuse of a minor.

Haddish is also accused of negligent supervision/failure to warn, breach of fiduciary duty and constructive fraud. The lawsuit seeks general and special damages, as well as “any appropriate statutory damages.”

Spears has not yet said anything about the lawsuit on social media. His last Instagram post was on Sept. 2, telling fans to direct message him for the link to the “Spears & Steinberg” podcast he hosts with Andy Steinberg.

“Thank you to all my fans and TRUE BELIEVERS FOR YOUR SUPPORT!!! COMMON SENSE AND RATIONALE IS NOT LOST ON YOU,” he wrote in his caption.

Haddish’s lawyer, Andrew Brettler, said in a statement to The Post last week that the lawsuit contains “bogus” allegations.

He said that the plaintiff’s mother “has been trying to assert these bogus claims against Ms. Haddish for several years.  Every attorney who has initially taken on her case — and there were several — ultimately dropped the matter once it became clear that the claims were meritless and Ms. Haddish would not be shaken down.”

He added that her mother “has her adult daughter representing herself in this lawsuit” and that “the two of them will together face the consequences of pursuing this frivolous action.”

When contacted by The Post, Spears’ attorney, Debra Opri, responded: “He isn’t going to fall for any shakedown.”
