Top 5 signs your partner is cheating: private investigator

If you’re suspicious you might be dating a cheater, this private investigator has some hot tips for you.

In a series of now-viral TikToks, the P.I. from the Australian company Down Under Investigations has detailed catching a client’s boyfriend in the act while following him in his car late at night.

“When your boyfriend’s a 10 — but he’s just got a taxi back to his ex-girlfriend’s house,” the cheater buster quipped in the clip, which has racked up nearly 20,000 views as of Thursday morning.

The unnamed snoop captioned the clip: “Another happy client … well happy with us, but not happy with their now ex-partner. 💔”

In another self-help clip, the P.I. shared his “Top 5 signs you’ve got a cheater on your hands.”

One sign that kept coming up in the comments was a change in phone behavior, which the investigator said is “a very big sign.”

The top five signs that your partner is cheating:

Lying

If they lie about both big things and small things, they might be cheating.

Defensiveness

A partner getting excessively defensive is a sign of cheating.

Gaslighting

Gaslighting is a “subtle” clue that you’re dating a cheater.

Accusations

If they accuse you of cheating, they might be cheating themselves.

Has cheated before

If your partner has a history of cheating, you’re right to be suspicious.

TikTok users also took to the comments to share their own warning signs.

“Other men messaging them good morning and good night texts,” one person wrote.

“They say they’re going to wash the car at 10:30 at night and don’t return for several hours… my ex,” another shared.

“Racing home to change or shower. Using new sayings or words. New interest in fashion. Leaves rings at home. New phone lock screen,” a user wrote.

Meanwhile, a psychologist on Instagram suggested taking note of what your partner says rather than their behaviors or facial expressions.

Daniel Acon shared a psychological secret to know if someone’s cheating on you, but started off with a disclaimer that this trick will only work if you haven’t broken your partner’s trust, “otherwise, they might be justified in how they feel about you.”

“If you’re dating someone and they start accusing you of cheating or they’re worried that you’re talking to other people without any evidence, it usually means that they’re cheating and talking to other people,” the psychologist said. “They’re just worried that you’re doing the same thing.”

Acon explained that this is something called “projection,” meaning “people tend to project what’s inside of them onto other people.”

The responses to Acon’s advice were mixed.

“This isn’t true in every case. Some people have abandonment issues and fear this and can accuse or become suspicious, but it doesn’t mean they are cheating or talking to others,” one person said.

“What about the trauma of being cheated on?” another wrote, to which Acon responded, “Absolutely, I didn’t say this was every single time.”
