  • March 30, 2022 to April 6, 2023:
The C.D.C. reported no cases for Mississippi in its weekly update because of a technical issue.

Data on this page is reported by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Population and demographic data is from the U.S. Census Bureau. Hospitalization data is reported by individual hospitals to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, and it includes confirmed and suspected adult and pediatric patients.

Governments sometimes revise data or report a single-day large increase in cases or deaths without specifying when those cases and deaths occurred, which can cause an irregular pattern in the daily reported figures. The C.D.C. may make historical updates as more data is reported. The 14-day change measures the difference between C.D.C. reporting periods that are two weeks apart, which are sometimes 13 or 15 days apart because of holidays and other disruptions to normal reporting.

Weekly county case and death data prior to Jan. 2021 was not reported by the C.D.C. and is sourced from reporting by The New York Times.
