Trump brands Nikki Haley ‘Nikki New Taxes’
Former President Trump dropped the latest nickname of the the 2024 presidential race, branding rival Nikki Haley as “Nikki New Taxes.”
Haley — who Trump hired into his White House to serve as the United States ambassador to the United Nations — has been gaining on Trump in some polls.
A survey earlier this month showed her within four points of the former president in New Hampshire — a dangerous development for Trump who has otherwise dominated polls in every state so far.
“KISS OF DEATH: Nikki New Taxes,” blared the email from Trump’s campaign committee Friday — which went on to savage the former South Carolina governor.
“The truth is finally coming out about Nikki Haley’s troublesome record showing her total disdain for the working class and a willingness to sell out to lobbyist parasites,” the email read.
“She pushed for a WHOPPING 60% increase in the state gas tax in South Carolina after promising voters she would never do so. She also voted for an unconscionable 20% increase in the state sales tax, making her the enemy of the working-class and an ally of lobbyist cronies taking advantage of impressionable politicians looking for their approval.”
The missive, which was signed by Trump campaign spokesman Steven Cheung, also blasted Haley as a “RINO” — Republican in name only — for supporting entitlement reforms “ripping away Medicare and Social Security and increasing the retirement age.”
Trump became notorious for his devastating nicknames during the 2016 and 2020 presidential campaigns.
Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush was “Low energy” while Texas Sen. Ted Cruz was known as “Lyin Ted.”
In the current race Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has been known as “Ron DeSanctimonious.”
In his 2020 contest with President Biden, Trump repeatedly referred to him as “Sleepy Joe.”
