Tucker Carlson ‘certainly’ contender as Trump’s VP: Don Jr.

Donald Trump Jr. says that former Fox News host Tucker Carlson “would certainly be a contender” for his dad’s pick as presidential running mate.

“That clearly would be on the table,” Don Jr. said when asked on Newsmax Thursday if the former president was “serious about Tucker Carlson” as a possible vice president if he wins the 2024 election.

“I mean they’re very friendly, I think they agree on virtually all of these things,” Don Jr. told Rob Finnerty on “Wake Up America.”

“They certainly agree on stopping the never-ending wars. And so, I would love to see that happen. That would certainly be a contender.”

The former president himself has previously said he would consider Carlson for the job.

“I like Tucker a lot; I guess I would,” Trump said in an interview on “The Clay Travis and Buck Sexton Show” in November. “I think I’d say I would, because he’s got great common sense.”

During a Fox News town hall last week, Trump, 77, hinted that he has already made up his mind on his running mate pick, saying: “I know who it’s going to be.”

On his part, Carlson has played down the idea that he would run for public office, saying that it would be “kind of hard to envision.”

Carlson, 54, hosted a prime-time show on Fox News for six years, before he was fired in April without any explanation.

The popular presenter’s abrupt exit came just days after the network agreed to pay $787 million to settle a defamation lawsuit filed by Dominion Voting Systems concerning the spread of lied about the 2020 presidential election.

Carlson has since launched his own streaming service, the Tucker Carlson Network, and he also hosts a news show on X.

Don Jr. also floated Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, Sen. J. D. Vance (R-Ohio) and Ben Carson, who served as housing secretary in Trump’s administration, as potential running mates.

“You need someone who’s in alignment, as well as, like, aggressive. You actually need a fighter,” he said. “The Republicans in Washington, DC, are weak. You can have the House, the Senate, and they’ll still roll over.”

The one person Don Jr. said he would not like to see running for the White House with his dad is former South Carolina Gov Nikki Haley, who he claimed was being “funded by Democrats.”

“I would do whatever I could to make sure it wasn’t Nikki Haley!” he said. “That’s my opinion, I don’t make these decisions.”
