University of Dayton graduate Ian Brunner dead after crushed by car
A recent University of Dayton graduate was crushed to death by a car the same day he received his diploma from the school, according to reports.
Ian Brunner, 22, was killed after his car fell on him when a jack holding up the vehicle collapsed Sunday evening, officials said, according to the Dayton Daily News.
Just hours prior, he graduated with a mechanical engineering degree, university officials in Ohio said.
Police and first responders rushed the scene around 7 p.m. after they received reports of a man trapped under the car, the Montgomery County Regional Dispatch Center said, the newspaper reported.
“I’m outside of Campus South Apartments at [the] University of Dayton. A car fell on a kid and he’s — this jack fell out from underneath him and he’s trapped underneath and not responding,” a 911 caller told dispatchers according to audio obtained by WHIO.
The Pittsburgh native was pronounced dead at the scene.
“We ask that the community keep this young man’s family, friends and loved ones in their prayers,” the university said in a statement.
