Unseen intimate photos of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry revealed in Netflix doc
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s Netflix docuseries released a teaser on Thursday, revealing a montage of intimate photographs of the royals’ lives.
The one-minute trailer for “Harry & Meghan” features a plethora of personal snapshots — from childhood memories to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s joyful May 2018 wedding.
“No one sees what’s happening behind closed doors,” Harry narrates.
One never-before-seen photo shows Harry, 38, wearing sunglasses and rocking out with a guitar as Markle sits cross-legged on the grass next to him. Another shows a sunlit silhouette of pregnant Markle, now 41, enjoying a day at the beach.
However, the trailer takes a dark turn, with one image of the American royal crying as she looks down at her phone. One can only imagine what headlines she may have been reading to prompt the emotional response.
Another scene shares quick snippets of the pair looking upset and distressed during sit-down interviews that will be broadcast for the first time in the series.
“When the stakes are this high, doesn’t it make more sense to hear our story from us?” Markle says in the clip.
The trailer quickly elicited thousands of responses on YouTube — many of which mocked the embattled British royal family.
“And because of this, expect more seasons of ‘The Crown.’ The family drama continues,” wrote one fan.
Another laughed how “the distressed picture” of Markle features “an Hermes blanket … worth more than my salary.”
Some called out the fiercely private couple for sharing so much with Netflix, as one critic responded, “I’ve never seen such a public attempt at privacy.”
Netflix said in a statement that the six-part documentary series about the couple will “explore the clandestine days of their early courtship and the challenges that led to them feeling forced to step back from their full-time roles” in the monarchy.
“With commentary from friends and family, most of whom have never spoken publicly before about what they witnessed, and historians who discuss the state of the British Commonwealth today and the royal family’s relationship with the press, the series does more than illuminate one couple’s love story, it paints a picture of our world and how we treat each other,” the streamer added.
“Harry & Meghan” premieres Dec. 8.
