US Open 2023: Day 4 Order of play and schedule – When are Andy Murray, Ons Jabeur and Carlos Alcaraz playing?
British tennis fans have a lot to look forward to on day four of the 2023 US Open after a sensational start to the final Grand Slam of the year.
Dan Evans, Cameron Norrie, Andy Murray and Jack Draper fly the flag for Great Britain in the men’s draw on Thursday.
Jodie Burrage and Katie Boulter will continue their campaigns too as the six Britons look to carve a path into the third round.
There is plenty to look forward to elsewhere in the draw, too, with world No. 1 and Wimbledon champion Carlos Alcaraz taking to the Flushing Meadows courts against Lloyd Harris of South Africa.
Top 10 players Daniil Medvedev, Jannik Sinner and Andrey Rublev are also in action on a busy day in New York.
Wimbledon champion Marketa Vondrousova and runner-up Ons Jabeur continue their respective bids for glory, while American third seed Jessica Pegula will be able to count on the backing of her home support when she faces Patricia Maria Tig.
Top women’s match – Jodie Burrage v Aryna Sabalenka [2]
British No. 2 Burrage faces the most daunting of tasks to keep her US Open campaign alive in Louis Armstrong Stadium.
The world No. 96 is already enjoying her best ever run at Flushing Meadows after earning a stunning win over Anna Blinkova in the first round.
But taking down Sabalenka would represent the biggest result of her career and it won’t be easy for the Brit.
Sabalenka has reached at least the semi-finals in her last four Grand Slam appearances and claimed her first major title on the hard courts of Melbourne at the start of the year.
Top men’s match – Andy Murray v Grigor Dimitrov [19]
Fresh off making more history by taking down Corentin Moutet to claim the 200th Grand Slam win of his career, Murray is now up against a familiar foe in Grigor Dimitrov.
The 36-year-old, a former US Open champion, holds an encouraging 8-3 head-to-head record against the Bulgarian.
But they haven’t met since 2016 – the year that Murray knocked Dimitrov out of the US Open in the last 16.
Dimitrov had to save three match points in a gruelling five-set win over Alex Molcan in the first round that lasted four hours and 40 minutes.
The contest promises to be compelling viewing as Murray looks to put the pain of his Wimbledon defeat to Stefanos Tsitsipas behind him and reach the third round of a major for the second time this year.
