US Open 2023: Day 8 Order of play and schedule – When are Carlos Alcaraz, Jack Draper and Ons Jabeur playing?

Carlos Alcaraz will hope to reach the quarter-finals of the US Open as he takes on Italian qualifier Matteo Arnaldi on Monday in New York.

As the tournament moves towards the closing stages, the top-20 match-ups come up more regularly, and Daniil Medvedev will need to get past Alex de Minaur to get through his own last-16 tie.

Alexander Zverev takes on Italian youngster Jannik Sinner in another intriguing tie between two top talents.

In the women’s side of the draw, world No. 2 Aryna Sabalenka faces Daria Kasatkina as she hopes to land another Grand Slam after the 2023 Australian Open.

There is an all-American tie as Madison Keys comes up against world No. 3 Jessica Pegula who is further into the competition than she has been before.

Top women’s match – Madison Keys [17] v Jessica Pegula [3]

Madison Keys faces Jessica Pegula in an all-American tie in front of a traditionally partisan US crowd. The spectators for this match should be happy with whichever player emerges victorious, though Pegula will be the favourite.

The American is the world No. 3 and is now on course for her best finish in New York, and after a semi-final appearance at the Australian Open this year she is looking for her first career Grand Slam win.

She on course to challenge for that, or perhaps exceed it, when she meets Keys, who was a finalist in 2017.

Top men’s match – Carlos Alcaraz [1] v Matteo Arnaldi

Everyone is waiting for Carlos Alcraz to meet Novak Djokovic after this season has already produced some classics between the No. 1 and No. 2 in men’s tennis.

Alcaraz dropped a set to Dan Evans on Saturday in his third-round match, and will be a heavy favourite against Italian qualifier Arnaldi.

Arnaldi enjoyed his own win against a Brit after a straight-sets victory over Cameron Norrie.

Alcaraz will likely blow away Arnaldi with the 22-year-old Italian offering up much less pedigree and experience than the 20-year-old Spaniard.

As the tournament moves into its second week, fatigue may start to take its toll and Alcaraz will hope to avoid any lengthy match.
