Vanna White addresses Pat Sajak’s exit: ‘Who could have imagined?
She’s really spinning this goodbye.
Vanna White, 66, is wishing the best for her partner-in-crime and fellow co-host, Pat Sajak, 76, after he announced his exit from “Wheel of Fortune” this week.
“When we started @WheelofFortune who could have imagined we’d still be at it 41 seasons later?” White wrote in a tweet on Tuesday.
The message continued, “I couldn’t be happier to have shared the stage with you for all these years with one more to come. Cheers to you, @patsajak!”
Sajak announced his departure from the game show in a tweet on Monday, revealing that this upcoming season of the NBC show will be his last.
“Well, the time has come,” Sajak wrote. “I’ve decided that our 41st season, which begins in September, will be my last. It’s been a wonderful ride, and I’ll have more to say in the coming months. Many thanks to you all. (If nothing else, it’ll keep the clickbait sites busy!)
The Post reached out to White’s reps for further comment.
Sajak has been a fixture on the hit gameshow since 1981, his career spanning 41 seasons.
White joined him on the program in 1982, becoming a regular letter-turner and support for Sajak.
It’s unclear who will be taking over Sajak’s position after he departs next year, but some fans have speculated whether or not White could be sliding in on hosting duties.
Journalist Justin Kirkland chimed in with a tweet on Tuesday, writing, “With the news of Pat Sajak retiring, I’d like to formally begin the campaign of getting Vanna White to take over Wheel of Fortune.”
“With Pat Sajak retiring, the ONLY smart thing is to make VANNA WHITE the new host of WHEEL OF FORTUNE! She’s already proven herself as a substitute host, everybody loves her and she can provide smooth, unbroken continuity,” another person suggested.
Others even questioned whether or not someone like Ryan Seacrest would be made the new host of “Wheel of Fortune,” after a source alleged to Bloomberg that he “has been talking to the producers of ‘Wheel of Fortune.’”
Another insider told the outlet that Seacrest was “the frontrunner” to step up as host, but that there are many others in the running.
However, it may be a rough road ahead for White, who said in a 2021 interview with People that the prospect of him not being her co-host was “depressing.”
“I don’t even want to think about that. I mean, we’re a team,” she told the outlet at the time.
“That’s depressing. I don’t even want to think about it.”
During the same interview, she also admitted that she couldn’t “imagine” the show going on without the both of them.
“I can’t imagine,” she said. “Everybody relates ‘Wheel of Fortune’ to Pat and Vanna. We’re like Ken and Barbie, you know? We’ve been in everybody’s homes for 40 years, so it would be weird having somebody else turn my letters.”
