Mayor Karen Bass of Los Angeles cautioned the public to refrain from jumping to conclusions about who had started the fire.

“We know that the origin of this is arson. We do not know other information. There is no reason to assume that the origin of this fire or the reason this fire happened was because there were unhoused individuals nearby.” “A lot of people go on the 10, so we’re all having to make adjustments. Just – it’s just a headache.” “You’ve got to, you know, leave early or try to, you know, use other routes. Just be creative.”
