Washington Monument stabbing sends man to hospital

A man was stabbed on the grounds of the Washington Monument on Saturday evening, authorities said.

United States Parks Police responded to the scene on Constitution Avenue shortly after 5 p.m., police told The Post in a statement.

Police said that the victim had gotten into an altercation with another man who then stabbed him.

The two men knew each other, according to police.

It’s not clear what sparked the fight.

One of the men was taken to a local hospital for treatment, police said.

His injuries are non-life threatening, police said.

Police took the suspect into custody, and said there is no ongoing risk to the public.
