Wimbledon 2023: Day 2 Order of Play and schedule – When is Andy Murray v Ryan Peniston? When does Carlos Alcaraz play?

Andy Murray, Carlos Alcaraz and Elena Rybakina are just some of the names in action on day two at Wimbledon 2023.

Defending women’s champion Rybakina opens the Centre Court action while Murray plays fellow Brit Ryan Peniston.

Men’s world No. 1 Alcaraz starts the day on Court One before Ons Jabeur and Cameron Norrie kick off their campaigns.

Women’s world No. 2 Aryna Sabalenka will also be looking to make a strong start as she bids for a second Grand Slam title.

Top men’s match – Ryan Peniston v Andy Murray

An all-British clash headlines the second day in the men’s draw.

Andy Murray is a two-time champion at Wimbledon and has said he is feeling good ahead of the Grand Slam.

He is also hoping his experience at the tournament counts in his favour.

This will be the first meeting on tour between Murray and world No. 268 Peniston, who made the quarter-finals at Queen’s and Eastbourne in 2022 but this year has not gone deep at any grass events.

Peniston says he is expecting a “pretty special experience” when he faces Murray on Centre Court.

Top women’s match – Shelby Rogers v Elena Rybakina

Former world No. 1 Andy Roddick labelled Elena Rybakina the “best grass player in the world” a few weeks ago.

But that was before she lost early in Berlin and then pulled out of Eastbourne due to a viral illness.

Rybakina’s build-up means there is some uncertainty around her as she looks to defend her title – and perhaps there’s a chance for Shelby Rogers to spring an upset.

Rogers beat Rybakina in their last meeting on grass before Wimbledon 2022.

Brit watch

After six Brits played on Monday, there are eight in action on Tuesday.

Murray and Peniston are on Centre Court while last year’s semi-finalist Cameron Norrie plays on Court One.

Arthur Fery plays third seed Daniil Medvedev and George Loffhagen takes on sixth seed Holger Rune.

British women’s No. 1 Katie Boulter faces Daria Saville, Sonay Kartal is up against Eastbourne champion Madison Keys, and Heather Watson has a tough contest against 10th seed Barbora Krejcikova.
