Woman charged with ditching French bulldog at airport
This heartless move came back to bite her.
A Pennsylvania woman who allegedly ditched her French bulldog at a Pittsburgh airport so she could jet off on vacation was charged with animal cruelty, police said Thursday.
Allison Gaiser, 44, is accused of leaving the adorable 7-year-old pup in a stroller and flying to a Mexican resort on Aug. 4 because she didn’t have a crate for the pet, according to the Allegheny County Police.
Officers later found the pooch abandoned near a short-term parking lot at Pittsburgh International Airport — and tracked down Gaiser via the dog’s microchip, police said.
She was charged with one misdemeanor count of animal cruelty, along with animal neglect and abandonment violations, the department said in a Facebook post Thursday.
The poor pup, which wasn’t hurt during the ordeal, was cared for at the Animal Friends shelter and has since found a temporary home.
“The dog is doing well and is still being fostered,” police said in the post. “Investigators determined Gaiser intentionally abandoned the dog near short-term parking before boarding a plane to a resort destination in Mexico.”
Gaiser had initially tried to convince airline staff to grant her a boarding pass for the dog as an emotional support pet but failed, officials said earlier this month.
Gaiser, of Kittanning, didn’t immediately return a call from The Post Thursday.
