World Open snooker: How to watch and who is playing, what is the schedule? Is Ronnie O’Sullivan playing?

The World Open returns to the snooker calendar this month for the first time since 2019.

Judd Trump won the tournament when it was last staged and he will be back to defend his title in Yushan, China.

The ranking event will also feature most of the top players on tour, including Ronnie O’Sullivan, Mark Allen, Mark Selby and world champion Luca Brecel.

When and where is the World Open?

The World Open starts on Monday, March 18 and the final is on Sunday, March 24.

It will be held in Yushan, China and is the fourth event staged in China this season after the Shanghai Masters, Wuhan Open and International Championship.

Coverage starts from 6:30am UK time every day until the weekend, when coverage begins at 6am UK time.

Who is playing in the World Open?

Most of snooker’s big-hitters will be in attendance in Yushan.

World No. 1 Ronnie O’Sullivan will headline the field and will be joined by Judd Trump, world champion Luca Brecel, Mark Allen and Mark Selby.

Ding Junhui, Zhou Yuelong and Zhang Anda will be among the Chinese players looking to excite the home crowd.

What is the World Open schedule and format?

Qualification for the World Open was held in Barnsley in January, but several matches have been held over to the opening day in Yushan, including those involving Trump and Brecel.

The quarter-finals are scheduled to be played on Friday, March 22, the semi-finals on Saturday, and final on Sunday.

All matches will be best-of-nine frames until the semi-finals, which are best-of-11 frames. The final will be played over two sessions and will be best of 19.
