World Seniors Snooker Championship: Stephen Hendry and Jimmy White reach quarter-finals at Crucible
Stephen Hendry produced a vintage finish from yesteryear to complete a 3-2 win over Darren Morgan in the last 16 of the World Seniors Championship at the Crucible Theatre.
The seven-time world champion rounded off his victory against the Welshman at the celebrated Sheffield venue with a classy break of 79 after slotting a trademark long red to secure a quarter-final meeting with Alfie Burden on Saturday night.
Burden completed a 3-0 victory over 1997 Crucible winner Ken Doherty on Thursday evening.

Morgan defeated Hendry 3-1 in the last eight of the World Seniors four years ago and looked on course to lead 2-1 after compiling a break of 46 in winning the second frame.
But the Scottish icon managed to get a snooker on the final pink and black before pinching the third frame for a 2-1 lead.
Morgan dominated the fourth frame to force the decider, but Hendry finalised matters to keep alive his quest for a first seniors crown with his opponent failing to register a point.
He was joined in the quarter-finals by three-time seniors champion Jimmy White, the man he defeated in four Crucible finals between 1990 and 1994, who defeated Philip Williams 3-1.
Williams won the first frame with a run of 61, but White edged a tight second frame before claiming the final two frames, including a closing break of 70 after some excellent safety play.
‘The Whirlwind’ will face Adrian Ridley in the last eight on Saturday after the Australian completed a 3-0 win over 1986 world champion Joe Johnson earlier on Friday.
