Hearn: O’Sullivan ‘bang out of order’ for ‘ludicrous’ comments on state of snooker

Former World Snooker Tour chairman Barry Hearn has said Ronnie O’Sullivan was bang out of order” for his criticism of the current state of snooker and has urged the world No. 1 to do more to help the sport thrive.

Seven-time world champion O’Sullivan said last month that snooker is in the worst place it has ever been” and needs another £50m a year just to make it a proper tour.”

He also said there is not enough money in snooker compared to other sports.

However, Hearn says words are easy” and wants O’Sullivan to do more for the game.

“Ronnie is bang out of order saying snooker’s in the worst place it’s ever been,” Hearn told Eurosport. “I never heard such a ludicrous statement in my life. It frustrated me.

“It’s typical Ronnie trying to get on the front pages and say something which is nonsensical but journalists will report on it. Have a look at some other sports, we are right up there at the pecking order.”
