Ronnie O’Sullivan – Pang Junxu

11:00-14:00

The 47th running of the World Championship begins in earnest on Saturday. As is customary, the defending champion Ronnie O’Sullivan opens proceedings at 10:00 BST. He will face off against Pang Junxu. The Rocket is gunning for a record-breaking eighth world title, but has struggled for form this year and hasn’t gone beyond the quarter-finals of a ranking tournament this season, although he did win the Hong Kong Masters and Champion of Champions.

O’Sullivan will be the focus of much of the attention on the first day of the Word Championship. However, there will be four other matches taking place. Stuart Bingham will take on David Gilbert in the morning session’s other clash, while the afternoon session sees Luca Brecel take on Ricky Walden and Neil Robertson face Wu Yize from 14:30. Then O’Sullivan and Pang conclude their match in the evening from 19:00, while Ali Carter kicks off against Jak Jones.
