World Snooker Championship 2023: ‘You shouldn’t do it’ – Anthony McGill offers fan his cue after ‘extraordinary’ miss
Anthony McGill got so frustrated with his snooker during his quarter-final against Si Jiahui at the World Championship on Tuesday afternoon that he offered his cue to a fan after a bad miss.
But it was not Si who showed any nerves at the start of the match as he stormed into a 3-1 lead with 39-0 on the board in his favour when McGill stepped up to the table once more in a bid to turn things around.

Sadly for McGill, he produced another poor shot as he missed a relatively simple red to the middle pocket, and he was left so annoyed at his play that he had to find the funny side.
The 32-year-old from Glasgow turned from the table and looked over at a fan in the front row before asking him if he would like to take over and have his cue. The spectators inside the Crucible laughed as he eventually smiled and trudged back to his seat.
“He has missed again, extraordinary!” exclaimed Philip Studd, on commentary for Eurosport at the time.
“What has happened to that pocket?” wondered Neal Foulds. “He is laughing it off.
“The people in the front row are so close that you can have a chat with them, but you should not really do it.
“He is offering his cue to the gentleman in the front row there as if to say he would pot that one. He may well do. He may be a fantastic player.”
It certainly was not the start to the match that McGill was hoping for as he aims to reach the semi-finals, as he did back in 2020.
