Wuhan Open 2023 LIVE – Judd Trump in action against Tom Ford, Ronnie O’Sullivan and Mark Allen to come
TRUMP 0-0 FORD (37-33)
It almost goes pear-shaped rather quickly for Judd but he rescues position with a tough angle on a red up to the middle left.
An explosive blue keeps him at the table but an awkward red across the bottom rail never looks like passing the jaws and it’s suddenly advantage Ford again.
TRUMP 0-0 FORD (17-33)
Considering the form Judd is in, a miss on a red to the bottom left is a bit of a surprise. It allows Ford to have his first run at the table and he pops in a long red via the rest to the same pocket. A nudge off the red furthest south of the pack means he’s perfect on the black to the right corner and suddenly the World No.20 is in the box seat.
However, disaster is not far away. A glaring miss on the black off its spot towards the right corner pocket hands Judd a massive reprieve and the former World Champion will now try to take full advantage.
TRUMP 0-0 FORD (17-0)
Ford’s in with an instant opportunity but can’t squeeze in a long red to the bottom left in this best of nine-frame encounter.
Instead, Judd opens with a routine red-black but an attempt to secure a partial split of the pack with a red to the right corner doesn’t quite pay off. A sublime cut on the black looks fantastic but doesn’t provide position and it’s end of break.
The Ace in the Pack plays a smart safety to baulk and earns another opening that sees him slam down a long red to the bottom left. Again, there’s little to chew on so he retreats to the right side of baulk with the pink offering cover way north of its spot.
