Yannick Schwaller’s Switzerland among early front-runners at World Men’s Curling Championships

Yannick Schwaller’s Switzerland continued their strong start to the World Men’s Curling Championships with victory over Czech Republic.

The Swiss lit up the opening day of action in Ottawa with an upset win over hosts Canada.

Schwaller, Benoit Schwarz, Sven Michel and Pablo Lachat had to dig deep for a second-day success against the Czechs, locked at 4-4 heading into the eighth but excelling down the stretch to prevail 7-4.

Magnus Ramsfjell’s Norway are also two wins from two, backing up their own statement win over USA by beating South Korea 6-2.

Niklas Edin’s Sweden and Bruce Mouat’s Scotland delivered on expectations to go two from two.

Edin overwhelmed John Shuster and USA 11-6, while Mouat and his rink were at their relentless best in an 8-1 win over Turkey.
