Zac Efron is unrecognizable with beefed up physique, bowl haircut
Zac Efron looked nearly unrecognizable on the set of “The Iron Claw” on Monday, and fans were left stunned.
Efron is taking on the role of Kevin Von Erich, a professional wrestler and member of the Von Erich wrestling family, in the film.
For the part, the 35-year-old actor has gained a lot of muscle to give off the physique of the wrestler and is now rocking a bowl-cut wig and deep tan. He was spotted walking around the set showing off his new look in nothing but a blue towel.
The internet was divided on the new look, with some saying he was accurately portraying Von Erich’s figure and others who think it was too much.
“Zac Efron came out here looking like sexy Ned Flanders,” one wrote.
“Zach Efron as Kevin Von Erich is sending me to the goddamn moon,” another said.
“Growth hormone giving Zac Efron the ninja turtle belly. Cowabunga, dude,” someone joked.
“Zac Efron is supposed to be Kevin Von Erich. Instead, he looks like a young Billy Jack Haynes,” one pointed out.
“Wow I never thought we’d lose zac efron to excessive plastic surgery,” another wrote.
“Oh my god Zac Efron you destroyed your face,” a disappointed fan added.
“Looks like buff Robin Williams to me but that is definitely not my Zac Efron,” someone tweeted.
“I had to do a double take when I realized it said Zac Efron. Dude got hella jacked,” another exclaimed.
“The David Hasselhoff–ification of Zac Efron,” someone quipped.
This isn’t the first time Efron has changed up his look for a role.
When portraying Ted Bundy in the Netflix movie “Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile,” the actor lost 13 pounds and wore fake teeth to transform into the role of the serial killer, according to Variety.
But Efron’s looks have recently been the center of conversation for reasons other than just his acting career.
In 2021, rumors were going around that the “17 Again” star had undergone plastic surgery after fans noticed his jaw looked different in a video.
The actor told Men’s Health in his October 2022 cover story that he shattered his jaw while running in his house with socks on. He explained that his chin bone was “hanging off” and his facial muscles got “really, really big” during the recovery process.
Efron also told the magazine that his rigorous workout routine for the 2017 movie “Baywatch” led him to a “dark depression.”
“That ‘Baywatch’ look, I don’t know if that’s really attainable,” he said. “There’s just too little water in the skin. Like, it’s fake; it looks CGI’d.”
