Zendaya opens up about private relationship with Tom Holland
With great fame, comes great publicity.
But Zendaya is still grappling with keeping her private life, well, private, amid her euphoric rise to superstardom.
In an exclusive with Elle, the magazine’s September 2023 cover star revealed that she attempts to “control” what she shares with the public about her relationship with actor Tom Holland.
“Parts of my life, I accept, are going to be public,” the Emmy winner, 26, said in an interview conducted prior to the SAG-AFTRA strike.
“I can’t not be a person and live my life and love the person I love. But also, I do have control over what I choose to share.”
The lovebirds — and “Spider-Man” co-stars — rarely speak about their romance, save an occasional sappy tribute on the ‘gram or a snap captured by eagle-eyed paparazzi.
“It’s about protecting the peace and letting things be your own but also not being afraid to exist,” said Zendaya, who stars in the upcoming film “Challengers.”
“You can’t hide. That’s not fun, either. I am navigating it more than ever now.”’
Holland, 27, once dished to Buzzfeed he has “no need for rizz” — Gen Z slang for “charisma” or “game” — because he’s “locked up” and “in love.”
“I’ve always been really adamant to keep my private life private, because I share so much of my life with the world anyway,” he previously told GQ.
“This isn’t my story. It’s our story. And we’ll talk about what it is when we’re ready to talk about it together.”
But those aren’t the only intimate details of Zendaya’s life the public wished they were privy to.
The “Euphoria” star laughed off the numerous incidences where bystanders and paps alike caught her in less-than-glamorous moments.
She recalled running errands and facing a card issue at the register — then, fellow customers began snapping photos.
“I was just like, Why? You see I’m flustered,” she told Elle.
Then, she naively thought she could take her pup, Noon, on a walk totally unnoticed.
“I had this idea of, like, I can walk around Venice. No, I can’t,” she chuckled.
“I had to pick up his poo, and I was like, Lord, please, don’t take a picture of me picking up my dog’s s—t. There’s a picture of me holding the bag, but thankfully they spared the grabbing and the putting it in the bag part.”
