Ben Affleck, Matt Damon shared bank account as young actors

Best friends share everything — even money, apparently.

Ben Affleck and Matt Damon have been friends since they were kids growing up in Cambridge, Massachusetts. They’ve worked on many projects together since.

The duo has starred in several movies together, including “Good Will Hunting,” “School Ties,” “Dogma,” “The Last Duel” and their upcoming movie “Air.”

But the longtime besties have collaborated on more than just movies — they once shared a bank account when they were young actors.

Affleck, 50, and Damon, 52, revealed on “The Bill Simons Podcast” that starting in the 1980s, they had one bank account between the two of them to help pay for auditions and jumpstart their acting careers.

“It was unusual, but we needed the money for auditions,” Damon admitted, saying it’s “a weird thing in retrospect.”

“We were going to help each other and be there for each other,” Affleck added. “It was like, ‘You’re not going to be alone. I’m not going to be alone. Let’s go out there and do this together.’ “

The two of them had rules to keep each other afloat — but they weren’t ever going to let the other be without a means to pay the bills.

“As long as one of us had money we knew the power wasn’t going to get shut off. After doing [1992′s] ‘Geronimo,’ I probably had 35 grand in the bank. I was like ‘we’re good for a year,’ ” Damon shared.

“You were allowed to go to [auditions in] New York with the money. You were allowed to take out $10 and get quarters and go to [the arcade] and play video games,” he explained. “Eventually we were allowed to try to buy beer, which never f – – king worked.”

Later in the episode, Affleck expressed his love for his friend and shared how Damon has impacted his career.

“I love working with this guy. I love hanging out with him,” Affleck said about Damon. “If you can work with great people, who are good people too, it’s so much more rewarding personally and professionally.”
