Kevin Costner’s lavish spending revealed amid divorce: report
Kevin Costner’s estranged wife, Christine Baumgartner, revealed the couple’s extravagant spending habits in order to support her ask of $248,000 a month in child support.
And that figure is lowballing it, she claimed in court documents shared by the Daily Mail.
The nearly $250,000 a month “is less than the amount needed to maintain the children in their accustomed lifestyle,” Baumgartner, 49, wrote.
“As set forth above, the amount needed to maintain the children’s current lifestyle is $332,264 per month, which is 60% of what our family spent.”
Baumgartner proceeded to break down just how the couple used 68-year-old Costner’s 2022 earnings of $19,517,064.
She claims the family spent $6,645,285 on expenses, not including taxes — including $1,964,294.95 on their Aspen, Colorado, home, $1,178,147.16 for their beach home and over $830,500 in donated gifts.
The fashion designer explained that the wealthy couple “traveled the world in private planes [and] stayed in luxurious hotels and private homes,” spending $25,806 on boat expenses, $21,807.67 on spa services and $542,303.47 on gardeners.
“In addition to our beachfront compound, our family travels several times per year,” Baumgartner said.
“We vacation in the Caribbean and Hawaii and travel to Aspen several times per year, usually during the winter and summer. We typically host family and friends on our trips.”
When at home, the couple entertained often and hired caterers or chefs for meals. They also have “a team of employees” to help with the house and grounds, she said.
The couple’s kids Hayes, 14, and Cayden, 16, attended private school through junior high, Baumgartner stated.
She wants their 13-year-old daughter, Grace, to stay in private school — the cost of which Costner should cover, she claimed.
“We are also members at several local private country clubs.”
“I realize that our lifestyle is extraordinary. I appreciate how very blessed we are to live this way,” she admitted.
The Post has contacted reps for both Costner and Baumgartner for comment.
Baumgartner filed for divorce from Costner on May 1.
The transition does not appear to be a smooth one as documents showed that Costner claimed Baumgartner is refusing to leave their house — despite their prenup stating that she had 30 days to vacate after filing for divorce.
Meanwhile, Baumgartner’s lawyer claimed that the “Bodyguard” star cannot legally force his estranged wife and their kids out of the house.
Documents obtained by TMZ also alleged that Baumgartner is staying put as a form of leverage to force Costner to agree to her “various financial demands.”
