Former Representative Will Hurd of Texas has expressed his support for a 15-week federal ban, while suggesting that he doesn’t think passing one is politically realistic. His campaign did not respond when asked if he would support a ban earlier in pregnancy if Congress could pass one.
He acknowledges that climate change is a major threat, but what he would do is unclear.
Former Representative Will Hurd of Texas has acknowledged the gravity of climate change. In a 2021 essay on his website, he wrote that rising temperatures would worsen hurricanes, floods, wildfires and droughts; threaten water supplies; and, by reducing crop yields and restricting animal habitats, have economic consequences, such as making food more expensive.
He is the only candidate who wants to go beyond military aid by establishing a no-fly zone.
Former Representative Will Hurd of Texas — who said from the start that the United States should send Ukraine “as much weaponry as we can” — has espoused a more hawkish policy than any other major candidate, arguing that the United States should go well beyond providing equipment and weapons.
He is on the more moderate end of the G.O.P. field.
As a member of Congress, Will Hurd described a border wall as a “third-century solution to a 21st-century problem,” called the separation of migrant families “unacceptable,” and said Mr. Trump’s ban on travelers from several Muslim countries endangered the lives of Americans in the military and diplomatic corps who were serving in those places.
He is a leading voice among the field in condemning Trump.
Former Representative Will Hurd of Texas has been more scathingly critical of Mr. Trump’s behavior than any other candidate except Mr. Christie.
Unlike many G.O.P. contenders, he believes a trade relationship with China can be maintained.
